Things To Do ...

Spectacular granite formations, and wineries, orchards and festivals, make Stanthorpe the ultimate getaway destination. Whether you crave a romantic weekend visiting the vineyards or an adventure in the wilderness of a national park, Stanthorpe will not disappoint. There's plenty of great fresh water fishing and a host of four wheel driving tracks to conquer.

The changing seasons are celebrated with the famous Apple and Grape Harvest Festival (held every even numbered year), the Spring Wine Festival, The Brass Monkey Season and a host of other events. Stanthorpe's crisp winter mornings, sun filled days and warm open fires with a glass of Granite Belt port are hard to beat! Surely the best reason to visit the town of Stanthorpe is to sample the fruits of the vine. The popularity of Stanthorpe's wines attracts discriminating palates to the area all year round, and the growth of gourmet restaurants makes the vineyards an ideal lovers retreat.

South of Stanthorpe are four national parks - Sundown, Boonoo Boonoo, Bald Rock and the famous Girraween with its spectacular granite formations and profusion of spring wildflowers. Girraween is especially loved by rock climbers who travel from around the country to test their skills on the awesome granite slabs.

Stanthorpe's interesting mix of culture is reflected in the range of art and craft that the community produces. You can see local artwork at the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery which also hosts travelling exhibitions.

The last thing to do before you leave Stanthorpe is to load your car with a box of the seasons fruit - succulent peaches, berries, plumbs, nectarines, apples, pears or apricots. Enjoy!

So come and join the thousands of people who choose Stanthorpe every year as the gateway to Queensland. Boasting so many diverse attractions, it is always a good time to visit Stanthorpe, but the best time to visit is NOW!
